We’re thrilled to announce the release of LiveWire 24.3.0, packed with new features, key enhancements, and essential fixes to improve your network monitoring experience. With this update, we’re continuing our mission to provide intuitive, high-performance network analytics. Here’s a detailed look at what’s new in LiveWire 24.3.0.

Major capabilities in 24.3.0:

1. Real-Time Network Experts in LiveFlow

LiveFlow’s real-time network experts provide robust, protocol-specific monitoring across TCP, VOIP, Client/Server, DNS, IP, and HTTP. These experts actively detect and flag potential issues as they happen, empowering you to take a proactive approach to network health and performance. Here’s a closer look at the insights now available:

  • TCP Monitoring: Real-time alerts for issues such as Duplicate ACK, Triple Duplicate ACK, Slow ACK, and Too Many Retransmissions help identify and resolve packet loss, latency, and connection stability problems.
  • VOIP Monitoring: Advanced VOIP analysis with alerts on RTP Excessive Jitter, Loss, and Low R Factor ensures high call quality, enabling you to quickly detect and address any issues affecting VOIP communication.
  • Client/Server Performance: Detects non-responsive servers and clients, slow server response times, and throughput issues, giving you clear visibility into performance bottlenecks.
  • DNS Monitoring: Receive alerts for DNS Slow Response Time and DNS Errors, helping ensure fast, reliable query resolution and connectivity.
  • IP Monitoring: Tracks IP Low TTL, enabling quick identification of routing issues that could impact data flow.
  • HTTP Monitoring: Real-time insights into HTTP Slow Response Times and Server Errors provide critical data to maintain web application performance and reliability.

By forwarding these OTEL-based events to any compatible upstream application, LiveFlow enhances your visibility across the network. With 20 powerful real-time network experts, you gain proactive insights that integrate seamlessly into your OTEL-supported monitoring tools, enabling fast issue resolution and optimized network performance.

2. Grid Configuration Sync Enhancements

Configuration synchronization across your LiveWire appliances just got an upgrade. With enhanced support for synchronizing Capture configurations, Alarms, Filters, and Graphs, you can now manage your entire grid setup more efficiently. This upgrade allows for seamless coordination across devices, so your configuration changes are consistent and reliable.

3. Container Deployment Options

LiveWire is expanding its deployment flexibility by adding Docker and OCI container options. Deploy LiveWire as a container to fit seamlessly into modern, containerized environments. Note: This initial release does not yet support SNMP-dependent features (LiveFlow Router Map, LiveNX Discovery, etc.). Support for these features will be introduced in a 2025 update, expanding LiveWire’s containerized potential further.

4. LiveWire Group Authentication

Managing multiple appliances has never been easier. With Group Authentication, you can add LiveWire appliances to a group and leverage a shared authentication token. This means you can execute distributed actions across appliances without the hassle of logging into each one separately. It’s seamless, secure, and a big step forward for centralized management, saving time and enhancing operational efficiency.

5. Edge Appliance Update Readiness

Our latest Edge appliance update is on the horizon. The new device will feature RJ45 console access along with Out-of-Band (OOB) management capabilities, while still delivering the same high performance you’ve come to expect. This update ensures that your hardware remains flexible and accessible, ready to meet the evolving demands of network management.

Minor Enhancements in 24.3.0:

  • IPv6 Compatibility for LiveFlow IPFIX Output: LiveFlow now supports sending IPFIX data to IPv6 targets, ensuring compatibility with modern network infrastructures.
  • Oracle Cloud Support: LiveWire Virtual users can now deploy on Oracle Cloud, providing more hosting flexibility.
  • Editable Forensic Search Names: Update Forensic Search names post-creation to simplify search management.
  • New MPLS/VLAN/VXLAN Statistics View: Gain insights into MPLS, VLAN, and VXLAN traffic with this dedicated view.
  • Flow Filtering in Expert Flows: Apply network data filters in Expert Flows for a more targeted analysis.
  • Enhanced Forensic Search Controls: Time controls now include preset values for quicker access.
  • Additional Columns for Expert Flows: View MPLS, VLAN, and VXLAN columns directly within Expert Flows.
  • Custom Decoder Columns in PeekWeb: PeekWeb now offers custom decoder columns, allowing for a more tailored data view.
  • Improved Distributed Forensic Search UX: Start and End Time fields are now more user-friendly in distributed searches.

Bug Fixes in 24.3.0:

  • Interface Naming in LiveFlow Router Map: Addressed issues with case-sensitive checks to prevent name conflicts.
  • Drag-and-Drop Decryption Keys Error: Misleading error messages resolved for smoother key management.
  • SMB Payload Reconstruction: Fixed SMB payload issues for improved data integrity.
  • TCPDUMP Adapter List Persistence: Ensured adapter list retention after upgrades.
  • Decode Errors in Packet Display: Resolved incorrect IPv6 packet displays.
  • Crash Prevention in SMB Reassembly: Addressed SMB reassembly crashes for stable operation.
  • Napatech Card Compatibility for Expert Events: Fixed compatibility issues with TLS-related events for consistent monitoring.
  • PeekWeb UI Improvements: Fixed a UI bug causing white page display in the expert columns dropdown.
  • LiveFlow TLS Parsing Improvements: Enhanced handling of flows with certificates but no ClientHello (CHLO) for smoother parsing.
