The 2017 Gartner Report, “Technology Insight for Software-Defined WAN (SD-WAN)” features critical industry insights including the estimated cost savings and improved productivity driven by SD-WAN, an analysis of the marketplace, and evaluation questions to ask solutions vendors.

“By 2020, more than 50% of WAN edge infrastructure refresh initiatives will be based on SD-WAN versus traditional routers, up from less than 5% today.”

• Significantly reduce costs. According to Gartner, the five-year hardware/software/ support costs of SD-WAN are 40% – 80% less than traditional routers
• Improve agility and uptime. Gartner anticipates a 50% – 90% improvement in the time it takes enterprises (or relevant third parties) to provision network changes
