Darren T. Kimura

Executive Chairman

Darren T. Kimura is the Executive Chairman of LiveAction. He is an accomplished technology executive with more than 20 years of experience in 23 countries including the U.S., Japan, and India. Darren has been inventor on 14 patents, oversaw the acquisition of more than $2 billion in contracts, raised over $80 million in venture capital and private equity, and over $100 million in project financing. He has led key strategic initiatives such as preparing for Initial Public Offerings and Mergers and Acquisitions by organizing teams, advocating intellectual properties, and leading strategic engagements with Fortune 500 companies. In 2002 he was recognized as the Small Business Administration Young Entrepreneur of the Year for California, Oregon and Washington. He has a BA degree from the University of Hawaii where he studied Computer Sciences and Business and attended Portland State University where he studied electrical engineering.  In his free time, Darren enjoys cycling, skiing and has completed numerous marathons and triathlons.


Dana Matsunaga

Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Dana Matsunaga is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of LiveAction. Dana has more than 25 years of experience in networking communications industry. During his career, he has led corporate, product/solutions marketing, sales, business development and engineering initiatives. Prior to joining LiveAction, Dana was Director of Program Management at Spirent Communications where he managed marketing, product management, software development, hardware engineering, product verification, manufacturing as well as multi-site teams throughout the organization. Dana has a MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hawaii.  In his free time, Dana enjoys traveling, exploring, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.


John K. Smith

Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer

John K. Smith is the Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for LiveAction. John is responsible for developing the technical strategies and relationships to drive product development to meet customer needs. He has been in the networking field for more than 15 years, holding 2 patents and 4 patent applications. Previously, John served as Vice President of engineering at Spirent Communications where his contributions led to more than $120 million in revenue per year, while overseeing the product line and leading more than 130 engineers. He has been in software development for more than 25 years. John holds a MS degree in Computer Science from the University of Hawaii and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington as well as a MBA from Chaminade University.  In his free time, John enjoys exercising and keeping fit.


Ulrica de Fort-Menares

Vice President of Product Strategy

Ulrica de Fort-Menares is the Vice President of Product Strategy at LiveAction. Ulrica is responsible for the vision, strategy, partnerships and execution of the LiveAction product portfolio. She has over 20 years of experience in the networking industry and is the holder of 7 patents in networking technologies.  Prior to joining LiveAction, Ulrica was the Director of Product management at Cisco Systems where she has held various leadership positions in product management and software development. Before Cisco Ulrica began her career as a network engineer with Royal Bank of Canada and Canadian Pacific.  Ulrica holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Essex University and a Master’s Degree in Analysis, Design and Management of Information Systems from the London School of Economics and Political Science.   In her spare time Ulrica enjoys traveling and playing the piano.


Robert Pierce

Chief Architect

Robert Pierce is the Chief Architect at LiveAction. Robert is responsible for architecting and driving the technical direction for LiveAction’s suite of products. During his time at LiveAction, he has led the development of LiveAction’s award-winning Application-Aware Network Performance Management platform from infancy to commercialization. Formerly, as the Director of Engineering, Robert grew and managed the engineering team, while building a multi-million dollar product line with a worldwide customer base. Robert has over 15 years of experience in the software industry working for companies such as Orincon, Lockheed Martin and Referentia Systems. Throughout his career, he has led several software development projects from beginning to end. His responsibilities included: defining requirements and designing architectures for solutions encompassing situational awareness, data analytics and distributed computing. He holds a MS and BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hawaii. In his free time, Robert enjoys traveling and golfing.


Vishwas Puttasubbappa

Vice President of Engineering

Vishwas Puttasubbappa is the Vice President of Engineering at LiveAction. He is responsible for engineering and delivering LiveAction products in an efficient and timely manner. He also aims to exceed customer expectations and provide a strategic advantage for LiveAction. Vishwas has over 15 years of experience in the software and networking industry performing a variety of job roles. Prior to joining LiveAction, as the Director of Product Management, Vishwas spent 8.5 years at Cisco. There, he worked for multiple teams, which included: solution test, product management, consulting, customer advocacy and architecture. Prior to Cisco, he worked at Ericsson and Lucent Technologies and developed products in the computer networking space. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from North Carolina State University and a CCIE in Routing and Switching. Outside the workplace, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids watching movies, traveling, playing sports and expanding his culinary skills.
Steven Shalita

Steven P. Shalita

Chief Marketing Officer

As Chief Marketing Officer of LiveAction, Steven leads marketing, strategy, go to market, product and solution marketing, and channel activities. He brings more than 25 years of global technology, product, and marketing leadership experience targeting the enterprise and service provider segments. He has deep technology and architecture experience spanning networking, cybersecurity, application delivery, mobility, IT Operations Management (ITOM), application and network performance management, and operational analytics. Prior to LiveAction, Steven served as a strategic advisor to several early stage venture backed technology companies, private equity and investment firms. He served as Vice President, Marketing at NetScout Systems for six years, leading global marketing and product strategy, drove the integration of five acquisitions and was  responsible for transforming NetScout’s market position resulting in new market expansions and significant revenue growth. Steven is an accomplished technology evangelist and frequent speaker at industry events, and has held a variety of leadership positions at leading technology companies including, Check Point Software Technologies, Alcatel-Lucent, Redback Networks, Cisco Systems, UB Networks and Fujitsu.


Karen Miller

Vice President, Sales and Customer Experience

Karen Miller is the VP, Sales and Customer Experience of LiveAction. Karen oversees LiveAction’s worldwide sales organization and channel. She is a seasoned technology leader with almost 20 years’ experience in software sales and management. In her career she has built sales teams in the US and overseas, developed new markets in over 15 countries, increased channel partner recruitment and created Sales Development and Customer Success teams to address changes in the selling landscape brought on by SaaS and cloud adoption. She has a BA from UC Santa Barbara, an MBA from San Jose State University, and is fluent in Portuguese. In her free time, Karen enjoys reading, traveling, and has completed numerous obstacle course and overnight running relay races.
